The Historic Galloway House and Village
The Historic Galloway House and Village is located in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. The museum has been a place to see daily life of the early settlers to Fond Du Lac County. There are many exhibits at the village to emulate what life was like in the 1800s when it all started. The Historical Society of Fond Du lac County runs this site and works hard to keep up with restoration work that is needed for this historical treasure.
Located on a 15 acre farmstead where Edwin H. Galloway raised brown Swiss cattle back in the 1800s. A member of his family donated the Galloway house to the county historical society as an ideal site for their museum, which is open all year round. Thirty buildings each serve as mini-museums celebrating Wisconsin commerce and culture. The Blakely Museum houses one of the finest collections of artifacts from centuries ago with local history on display to explore for hours.
The complex now has regular visitors from all over the United States, foreign countries, as well as school groups that visit from the area. The Historical Society hosts many special events throughout the year including some great live music.
