Radon Mitigation Burlington WI

Radon mitigation in Burlington is a fairly painless process for homeowners. We have been in the radon mitigation business for over two decades, and have perfected the radon mitigation process to make it as fast and easy as possible. A study done by the Wisconsin DHS from 1995-2016 showed that 65% of homes evaluated in Burlington had radon levels at or above 4.0pCi/L. This is especially concerning since having levels of 4.0pCi/L increases your chance of developing lung cancer. Having a high reading come back from a radon test can be scary, but luckily radon gas is a solvable problem in any home. When you choose to go with Lifetime Radon for your radon mitigation needs, you can rest assured that we will lower your radon levels to a safe and livable range, and that you will receive the highest level of customer service around. What puts Lifetime Radon above the other mitigation companies in Wisconsin is our service, our man power, our products, our dedication, and our experience in the industry. In business for over 21 years, Lifetime Radon has become the premier radon testing and radon mitigation company in the midwest. In the radon industry, going with the cheapest option almost always ends up costly, even if you just need the system done to sell the home. Delayed closings, unsatisfactory results, poor communication, hidden charges, and fines from un-permitted work are all things that can happen in the radon mitigation business if an inexperienced and “cheap” contractor is chosen. Why risk it? Go with the best around. For a free quote on a radon mitigation system for your home in Burlington, give us a call!

How does radon testing work?

There are multiple options for radon testing in Burlington, but the main three options are charcoal testing, digital testing, and long term testing. Charcoal testing kits work by allowing radon to absorb into charcoal over a set period of time, one that time has elapsed, the charcoal kit is sent into a lab to be analyzed and an average can be determined. Digital testing doesn’t use charcoal at all, but is just as accurate if not more accurate than the testing kits. The digital monitors we use take a continuous reading of the radon levels in the home, and can show an hour by hour reading. Digital testing is instant, and a full report can be generated for your home in as little as 48 hours. Long term testing works by placing a specially designed canister in the basement for 90-365 days. Once the testing period is over, the canister is sent into the lab for analysis. The canister works by having a plastic film that gets hit by alpha particles in the air which show when chemicals are added in the lab. The lab then counts the number of particle strikes on the film and can produce an average from that.

How much does radon testing cost?

Radon testing in Burlington, and most of Wisconsin can cost anywhere between $20 and $200 depending on the type of test you decide to do on your home. The most cost effective testing option is the charcoal testing kit, the most popular testing option is the digital monitor, and on the high end is the Airthings Wave. The pricing for those is $25, $110, and $200 respectively.

Are radon test kits accurate?

Chances are you’ve at least heard of radon testing kits, or have done one of your own at some point during your life. Radon test kits are probably the most popular form of radon testing in America because they can be purchased from most home improvement stores or online. Many times we get calls from homeowners asking if the readings they received from those test kits are accurate or not, and the answer is YES. For the most part, we recommend doing at least two of these kits before taking action to get an average, but they are accurate and can be used to determine whether or not mitigation is needed. The only drawbacks of those kits are that they only give you an average number, they take longer to complete, and they involve having the homeowner doing it all themselves.

Where should I put my radon test?

As a general rule of thumb, you want to put your radon test in the lowest livable area of your home at or nearby breathing level, and away from the sump crock and stairwells. All windows and doors should be kept closed as much as possible during the testing period and any air conditioners that pull outside air into the home should be turned off. Central air units can be left on.

Radon Mitigation Cost

The cost for a radon mitigation system in Burlington is largely dependent on how the home is built. Here at Lifetime Radon we have designed a very specific set of questions we can ask you to determine a price and send you out a written proposal instantly! Generally, radon mitigation systems cost between $800-$1500. Some of the most important factors when determining price are whether or not the home has a sump pump, what kind of sump pump it has, and whether or not the home has a dirt or gravel crawlspace. Some other questions we ask include, “Is the basement finished, unfinished, or partially finished?”, “Is there existing electrical where the system possibly can run?” and “is there an unfinished portion of the basement that share a common wall with the garage?” These questions and a few other help not only determine a price, but also the possible placement of the system.  For a free 10 minute quote over the phone, or to set up an in person consultation, give us a call now!

Radon Companies Near Burlington WI

In every industry, there are multiple options to choose from when shopping around. In the case of radon mitigation, there are multiple options to choose from in the state. So who should you choose? Should you go with the best price? The company that has the best reviews? Or the closest company to your home? The answer depends on what you value the most, however there are some things to look out for when choosing the right company to mitigate your home in Burlington. As mentioned earlier, going cheap can be very costly in the radon mitigation industry because of how much can go wrong if the mitigator is inexperienced and just trying to get a quick buck. Currently in Wisconsin it is not mandatory to be certified for radon mitigation, so there are a lot of fly by night guys who come and go. At Lifetime Radon, we hold certifications from both AARST and the NRPP in radon testing and mitigation, and we have been doing business for over two decades and have no plans of going anywhere. We have the best reviews, the friendliest service, and competitive pricing for the product we offer. For more information on our company and to get a free quote, call us now!
